Our injectable procedures
Botox/Dysport
Dr. Baker offers two types of injectable toxin, Botox and Dysport. The injections are non-invasive and almost entirely pain-free. Dr. Baker uses extremely thin needles to administer the injections, and while there may be a small amount of discomfort initially, they shouldn’t cause any irritation or inflammation. For patients who are anxious about the procedure, we have a topical numbing cream we can apply to the area before administering treatment.
The procedure itself is quick, and is usually completed within ten to fifteen minutes. This makes it convenient for patients with busy schedules, since regular daily routines can be resumed almost immediately afterwards!
Toxins have several uses. It can be used to soften or eliminate frown lines, crow’s feet, forehead creases, and lines around the mouth. It can also be used to elevate or lift the brow, soften the chin, shape the brow, and improve the appearance of old or new facial scars. When used in the neck and chest region, toxins can often minimize creases, wrinkling, and “turkey neck.”
The benefits of toxins can extend beyond cosmetic appearances, as well! While the injections are generally used to smooth the skin and reduce lines and wrinkles, toxins have also been FDA-approved for a number of other medical conditions. These include migraines and severe underarm and palm sweating that hasn’t responded to topical agents.
Juvéderm
Like Botox, there are several different products included in the Juvéderm family. Each one uses specific concentrations of hyaluronic acid to target different areas of the face. This adds volume to the facial tissue by stimulating the production of collagen, which naturally plumps the skin. The fillers have a smooth, gel-like consistency, and each type is aimed at treating a specific problem area.

Juvéderm Ultra Plus XC fill out wrinkles and lines around the nose and mouth
Juvéderm Ultra XC and Juvéderm Volbella XC work as nonsurgical lip enhancement treatments.
After injecting Juvéderm, Dr. Baker will lightly massage the treatment area to ensure even distribution and reduce the chance of swelling. The procedure will normally take 15 to 30 minutes, depending on the area being treated. The injections themselves contain a small amount of pain-reducing lidocaine to help minimize any pain or discomfort. Recovery time is minimal, and most patients will see results immediately.
Restylane
Restylane, like Juvéderm, is a hyaluronic acid–based facial filler that we use to smooth wrinkles. It can also enhance the lips, target lines around the mouth, add volume to cheeks, and even minimize dark circles under the eyes. When Restylane is injected into areas where collagen has been lost, it helps to smooth and lift the skin, plumping it up and restoring a more youthful appearance. The hyaluronic acid in Restylane also clings to the skin and attracts water, helping to preserve the recently added volume.
Depending on how much work is being done, Restylane injections can take 15 to 30 minutes to complete. Dr. Baker will use a topical cream or ice pack to minimize any discomfort before injecting Restylane under the skin in the treatment areas using an ultrafine needle. There are several kinds of Restylane that can be used for different areas of your face, including:
- Restylane for facial wrinkles and folds, lip augmentation, and dark under-eye circles
- Restylane Silk for lip augmentation and wrinkles around the mouth
- Restylane Lyft for cheek augmentation, laugh lines, and overall volume and fullness
As with our other fillers, downtime is minimal. Most patients return to work after their procedure, but if you have several injections, you might want to give yourself a day to rest and recover. Full results are usually seen within a week, but immediate effects will also be noticeable since the fillers add volume when injected.
