With the current global health crisis our country is facing, it’s more important than ever to prioritize self care and hygiene. As businesses around the country continue to close due to state mandated guidelines and recommendations by the CDC, we want to do our part to help slow the spread of COVID-19 and keep our patients healthy! While our office will remain open, we’ll also be providing virtual care for routine visits and emergency situations.
While we all adjust to the changes surrounding COVID-19, we decided to put together a quick list of ways you can help flatten the curve, while still taking care of your skin!
#1 Wash Your Hands
We know you’ve been hearing it all the time, but we can’t stress it enough! Washing your hands is the most effective way to help slow the spread of COVID-19. By simply washing your hands for 20 seconds with soap and water, you can prevent thousands of germ particles from being spread to (and from!) the surfaces you touch regularly.
Increased hand washing and use of hand sanitizer can dry out your skin. It’s essential to keep your skin hydrated and healthy, to prevent dry, cracked skin. Here are some tips for dry skin relief:
- Wash your hands in lukewarm water.
- Use a clean hand towel, rather than paper towels or napkins, when possible.
- Apply lotion or moisturizer after drying your hands and using hand sanitizer.
If you regularly use lotion, but your dry skin persists, set up a virtual appointment and we’ll find a treatment that’s right for you.
#2 Don’t Touch Your Face
Again – we’re sure you’ve heard it, but it can’t be said too much. This is a habit that many of us have and don’t even realize! However, with the current threat of COVID-19, it’s crucial to be cognizant of this and work to change it. When you touch your face, all the germs from EVERY surface you’ve touched can be transmitted, leading to the spread of any number of illnesses. It might take some work, but it’ll be worth it to break this habit!
#3 Schedule A Virtual Appointment
Taking care of yourself during the current health crisis may take a backseat to other worries, but it doesn’t have to! You can continue to prioritize healthy skin, without going against the CDC’s guidelines to practice social distancing. By scheduling a virtual appointment with Dr. Baker, you can find out the best way to proceed with your current treatment, without having to visit the physical office. This allows you to keep up your routine visits without missing a beat!
We know times are changing, and we’re ready to adapt our practice to fit your needs! As we all continue to do our part to slow the spread of COVID-19, we want you to know we’re here for you. While we strive to do our part and practice social distancing, we’ll be happy to help you with any questions you may have surrounding virtual appointments.
